A Wils. Tiger Brew 'Pacific Holiday' I love the scents of this one - starts off with a beer scent (thats right) ends up with a beautiful floral scent.

Thanks for lookin' :D

Beer scent....It's on my wish list:rofl::rofl:
Those are lovely flowers, a breathe of spring!

Thanks Joann, its worth keeping around for the beer scent alone, heehee.
Spring is so far off right now, but our 'chids do keep us happy during winter time, cabin fever doesn't hit as hard when you have 'chids.

Great colour on this one, Gloria! Well done!

:)

Pantsonfire 01-13-2010 10:17 PM

MMMMM, Beer.
I really like the red/yellow color combination.

I saw a similar plant at the local store today labeled simply 'tiger brew'. They were recently un-boxed and didn't smell (yet). The colors are the same bright yellow with perhaps a little more red. They were the nicest looking flowers of the new shipment.

I'll have to swing by again a take another whiff.

aww that's lovely - I have the same but looks like it's not gonna bloom this time around :(
At least I can look at yours! thanks for sharing - good growing!

Tiger Brew 'Pacific Holiday'

Was it named after Tiger Woods and smells like his breath when he hits trees?

etex 01-14-2010 06:58 AM

Gorgeous color and blooms!! It is so great that orchids give us such beautiful colors during the dreary winter months!!

johnblagg 01-14-2010 08:52 AM

haha Goodgolly -- too funny!
LOL John, I knew you guys would have a field day with this one. Don't know the beer, I just know I don't have to share this one.
Just a correction on the colours - yes its yellow but its not red - its a chocolate colour like a good dark malted beer

Thanks for all the nice comments folks :D

Last spring I purchased a Wils. Tiger Brew 'Pacific Holiday' in full bloom. It appears to be growing very well but has not set blooms. Is there any special culture tips I need to know about this plant?

Regarding your comment that its scent reminds you of beer, "Tiger" is a big beer label in southeast Asia, I believe it began in Malaysia after WW2.

Eyebabe 02-22-2011 06:52 PM

I have this plant and it is currently in S/H for about 4 months...not doing as well as I'd hoped but coming along.
Mine was blooming back in the fall when I purchased it and I must say the flowers have a fluorescent glow to them and are just spectacular!
I hope I can get it to bloom again.

Hi Bill and Welcome aboard :)
Really didn't do anything special for this one, it grew out well in a 68 to 70 temps around blooming time. Kept this in sphag and coarse rok (large perlite) thru-out the media, kept it fairly moist but did not allow it to become bone dry in between waterings. Lights - 2)CFL 40watts 12hrs per day.
It may not be the time for it to bloom right now could be late spring or even fall.

Good luck :)

Windowsill Bill 02-22-2011 10:03 PM

Hi Gloria,

Thanks for the response. I was concerned because it was early April of last year that I aquired it in full bloom. It looks very healthy, so I will wait.

Regards,
Bill
