This is a plant I picked up last year from Exotic Orchids of Maui and this year it rewarded me with 2 spikes of male flowers. This species is a must have for any Cycnoches fan! These flowers do, however, look very similar to the pics I posted of the Cyc William Clarke, though this species does have some differences; most notably the reflexed petals and 'bug like' rather than 'star like' lip on the herrenhusanum.

I keep thinking I'm not so keen on Cycnoches, then I see pics like this. Stunning!

Awesome, Steve! Just out of curiosity, how big do these guys need to be to bloom? I bought a 'blooming size' this spring, that is about 13 inches tall now, but no sign of a spike.

Yeah Steve! :cheer:...there's not much more to say. Thanks!

Cycnoches herrenhusanum is one of my favorites among Cycnoches.

Kim, yours is really of blooming size. I do have one Cycnoches herrenhusanum and it is still very young, only 4.5 inches in size, but it has a spike now.

Ya, Gena is right about your blooming size plant. Just give it some more time and you should see a spike coming any time now. Most of my Cycnoches are just starting to put out spikes right now, so yours should be soon.

Thanks Steve and Gena.

Congratulation Steve, your plant is awesome. Herrenhusanum is a must for those who likes cycnoches. A few months ago I bought an hybrid beteewen herrenhusanum x barthiorum (Martha Clark) and I am just waiting to see the flowers in a few weeks. Does anyone knows where to buy this plant in USA???.

Thanks Gena, but I have never seen this particular plant being sold by Fred Clark. I never asked him about this plant but I will write him just in case.

Gena beat me to it, but I would also recommend Sunset Valley. Fred did, after all invent the cross! He might have some in the back. http://www.pineridgeorchids.com/ might also have them.

Thanks Steve for recommending Pine Ridge Orchids as well.

Pine Ridge Orchids

I tried ordering from Pine Ridge earlier this year, but Mr. Glancy couldn't seem to get organized enough to either answer my emails or find the plants in question.
