What to do with pot...

Not THAT kind of pot!

My sis gave me this pot for my bday. Personally, I think it's very cool. http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/c...racter0010.gif

But now the question is ... what to put in it? Should I go with my pseudo-bonsai ficus, my cycad (though I rather hate to disturb this one until it starts showing me some intention of growing), or just what? :scratchhead:

Shame you don't have a real bonsai of a pine tree it would look like it was on a windswept mountain!

Happy choosing

Oh, what a decision!

I love the pot...and both plants look really good in it :scratchhead:

I think I'm leaning toward the taller plant :)

let us know what you decide

I'm thinking the cycad is proportionally a better fit. But it's your call. Nice pot, though.

:bad::bad::bad: Ladies and Gentlemen, haven't you got more imagination than that?????:evil::evil:
You can't put an old plant in a new planter. That's just plain wrong!
You need to go shopping for a new orchid!!!!! That's the :wtg:
Being this smart is hard on me, you know. :whew
:idea: Next question? :rofl::rofl::rofl:
Psst, I love your new planter! ;)

Btw, this is what that same ficus looked like just a couple years ago

Attachment 30269

In my prior apt, the ambient lighting was very ... directional? I had the plant by a window and there was a large overhang on said window. So the ficus grew with more of a 'windswept' look without any action on my part. My present apt, on the other hand, has a cathedral ceiling with a half moon window over the SW facing sliding glass doors. The result -- much more light coming from above and all around. As you can see, it has had a major impact on the plant's growth. Still amazed at how quickly it lost the windswept look.

Yet another pot candidate

Still haven't made a decision. But here's yet another possible candidate:

I really like the last candidate to go in there. Seems to be the perfect fit.

camille1585 05-17-2009 07:35 PM

I still like the cycad candidate, but the last pic of the new plant is very nice looking. The plant is slanted at the same angle as the pot, giving it a windswept look, like those trees that grow on windy hilltops. What the name of the plant?

Hedge 05-18-2009 06:04 AM

I agree with Camille the third position of the last plant is definitely my favourite - nice succulent you have there, by the way - just wish I could remember what it is! Old grey matter is not up to much today.

Regards
H

I agree about the third pic. The angle of the plant in that one really suits the pot.
