What is something you've wanted to do your whole life

but haven't done...yet?

I saw this in an article I read recently and it got me thinking :hmm

I'm still trying to figure out my answer...

how about you?

CoolPhrog 04-15-2009 09:24 PM

For the first time in my life, I'm going to answer this question honestly. :blushing:

The one thing I've always wanted to do and haven't is to play a Johann Joachim Quantz inspired flute concerto in C Major :) (and not necessarily in a public venue)

boytjie 04-15-2009 09:51 PM

See a tornado. Thought about one of those storm chaser tours, but MAN they're not cheap...

lily99 04-15-2009 10:04 PM

I would like to go SCUBA diving in the South Pacific. So far I have only been diving in the Caribbean since it is much closer to where I live, and it is more affordable.

Bolero 04-15-2009 10:16 PM

I want to travel to Europe, I haven't done that yet.

But I am going to go soon!!!

kiki-do 04-15-2009 10:51 PM

Travel throughout the USA and to many countries that I've only read about. But not see the countries as a tourist would, but as its people would. Perhaps traveling on a shoestring budget and staying with folks instead of in hotels. Experience the real deal, so to speak.
That's a bizarre wish, considering I am frightened of flying. I have to take a pill in order to fly....it's that bad. :blushing:

tuvoc 04-16-2009 10:36 AM

Go to Italy, and eat, and eat, and eat!

Kim

MuscleGirl'sHobby 04-16-2009 11:03 AM

-Go to Antarctica and visit the active volcano there.
-Go fishing and backpacking in Alaska and see the Northern lights. Visit some of the Aleutian Islands while I'm there.
-Visit native orchid habitat with a camera.

...This list could go on and on :coverlaugh:

Beat one of my stepsons, Robert, to within about a fraction of an inch of his life. Make sure he spends a LOT of time in the hospital. Then, when he gets out, beat him again. But, of course, this could land me in jail - though I suspect a LOT of judges would likely consider my actions to be entirely justifiable - and so I doubt I'll ever get to fulfill this fantasy.

I guess I'll settle for a trip to New Zealand.

John, why don't you tell us how you really feel?

shakkai 04-16-2009 11:31 AM

Nichole beat me to it... I want to see the Northern Lights - though probably in Scandanavia rather than Alaska.

cb977 04-16-2009 11:36 AM

I think I'd love to cruise around the world with just a few of my favorite people :cloud9:

Sorry, Sue. I can't - you'd have to ban me from the board for using THOSE words!

I will say, though, that I like him best when he's in jail.

I would like to have my dream home built and have the money to keep it up (hire help). Of course, if I had the money to have the house built I wouldn't have to worry about keeping it up.

RosieC 04-16-2009 04:21 PM

I would love to see the grand canyon and even go on the 'sky walk'... but I am terified of heights and struggled with a 'tree top walk' at Kew Gardens a few weeks back.

I would love to go to Australia and among other things see Ayres Rock.

kavanaru 04-16-2009 05:13 PM

hhmm... I know it is impossible, but since I was a little child, what I wanted the most was to find out one day I was a "teleporter"... Maybe that's the reason why Nightcrawler has always been my Hero! :):D:biggrin:

but ok... since that is the wanna do/be in the reign of fantasy and iamgination... I'll keep it easier here: Live forever and no aging... Just kidding ;)

what I really want to do one day is go trekking in the Himalayas...

cb977 04-16-2009 05:19 PM

Great ideas coming form everybody!

Now I wanna do a lot more stuff! :chicken

Becky15349 04-16-2009 05:19 PM

I would like to travel to Thailand to see that beach in the movie "The Beach". I'd also like to go to Bali to see orchids grow in the wild...a friend of mine just went there and the pictures are amazing.

This is how I feel about my mom - I like her best when she's in rehab. I think maybe we have some things in common ;)

harrywitmore 04-16-2009 05:28 PM

I'll trade with you, Becky!

jkofferdahl 04-16-2009 05:59 PM

Something else I have often thought about, but haven't yet done: I'd like to write and publish a novel.

lepanthes89 04-16-2009 08:43 PM

I'd like to visit New Guinea (esp.Irian Jaya) to the places where they are discovering new species of everything, and the animals have never seen humans.
Also ,discover a new species of orchid and name it.
And write a great book.
There!

Then you are welcome to Sri Lanka ! At any time. Almost every day here we get 12 hours sun light and no no snow. And of course sea breeze .At the same time if you feel home sick our up country is here. To cool you!
More orchids there.

nenella 04-18-2009 12:00 PM

Thanks!! Actually I wouldn't ever miss 'the cold' as I was brought up in Kenya and go back every Xmas. you are just on the otherside of the same ocean!:)

Amanda L 04-18-2009 03:22 PM

There is are so many things that I want to do and haven't.

1) Go to Europe and see the tulips in the Netherlands, France to see the Eiffel Tower, Venice to see the canals, Italy to EAT. All over Europe really.
2) See more of the USA.
3) Africa to go on a safari.
4) Own a Ferrari F355 Spider in Black.
5) Learn another language.
6) Quit my job and become a photographer.

This is all I can think of right now.

This doesn't include my childhood dream of being a scientist. I was going to find the cure for AIDS.

greenbean 04-18-2009 06:23 PM

HA! Give me another decade or two (at least) to live a little before I even try to answer this question! For now, I could make a list at least 5 pages long of all the things I'd like to do and haven't done yet. Let me see, I'd start with just about everything that's been said previously!

Dorothy 04-19-2009 03:13 AM

Travel the world .. possible and probable
Swim with wild dolphins .. possible and probable
Sky dive with my 83 yr young Mom - possible and probable
( She sky dove at 74 years young - next year will be her 10 yr anniversary)
Hang with people that are now deceased .. Impossible and improbable in this lifetime (guess I'll just have to wait til the time comes)

flhiker 04-21-2009 05:59 PM

Thru hike the Florida and Appalachian Trail.

kinknstein 04-21-2009 06:12 PM

Live in a place where it doesn't get down to -45C in the winter, that would be great!!

Hey Dave,
I'm very close to the end of the Appalachian trail. (Mt. Katahdin) You better stop in or I'll switch the signs and you'll end up in Canada!

Welcome to Baxter State Park

I just came through there Saturday and Sunday. It certainly looks majestic this time of year. :hmm I ended up in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick Canada. Hey Dave! He's not kidding! You better stop!

Gin 04-22-2009 09:35 AM

Fly in a Blue Angles Jet wheeee ! Gin

Dorothy 04-22-2009 09:59 AM

Gin - I have been on aircraft carriers out at sea and there is nothing like having a jet blast off a few yards from you .. you feel it through your whole body!
Never did get to fly in one though ... :(

MuscleGirl'sHobby 04-22-2009 01:13 PM

Were you in the Navy Dorothy? I was in the Army. I spent some time guarding an airfield overseas. Yes, having a jet blast off right next to you is pretty amazing. We had f-18s and a-10s going nearly constantly... and then there were the cargo jets. I love planes and flying, but never have had the opportunity to be on anything other than a passenger plane. I wanted to be a military pilot, but my vison was too bad :(

Dorothy 04-22-2009 01:30 PM

My brother-in-law is a Navy captain (- he use to fly S3 that are now decommissioned) .. The benefits of having him are wonderful! ;) I also have a niece and her husband in the Army .. they fly Blackhawk helios .. God speed to him as he will be home this fall! He is serving in Iraq as I type this ...
It is a great honor that our boys are protecting us from so far away ... Boo Yah!
