Laelia lucasiana var. alba revisited

I posted this the other day. Since then more flowers opened producing a nice view. The plant is very small, only 5" high.

How beautiful is that! Wow!! How old is it? What medium do you grow it in?

It's just perfect.

You are one of the worst (best) enablers on Orchid Board, Mauro! I love all the plants you show us and this one is no exception. In fact, it's one of my favorites! So crisp and clean. It's dainty and floriferous and just absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!

The plant is with me for at least five years. It is now reaching the rim of a 4" pot. I grow it in a mix of coconut fiber, bark and charcoal. I also mixed a few small pieces of rock. It seems to like it.

No, Lily, I believe it is among the easy ones. You just need to provided bright light and a medium with very good drainage.

This is why we all love orchids. They are so diverse. I fell in love with Laelias about 10 years ago. They fuel my passion in collecting them. I mean ...come on:) you can go from this little beauty to the large L. purpurata.
Heck, you can only collect L. anceps and collect forever and still find unusual color types and diverse varieties of this species that are not in you collection.
Bravo for the little lucasiana

I totally agree! Especially in the case of these little rupicolous gems! It is an endless rainbow of colors and species. And the good thing is that new species come to light in a regular basis!

Mauro,

what is a good source for rupicoluous laelias?

Thank you. And, as always, your pictures are fantastic.

Chacara Bela Vista is a good source for rupicolous Bela Vista Orchids
They have some rare like Laelia gloedeniana, at least one new like Laelia kleberi and several others. And you can place orders in the USA.
