This beauty is extremely colorful and extremely fragrant. It lost two buds to the cold, but it has 2-3 more spikes coming. I need to divide it this spring, because it's only blooming on one side of the pot (which it is getting too big for).

Last year, I took a bunch of photos of this one opening it's buds (in black & white and color). I photoshopped it a little bit, played with the transparencies, and came up with this beautiful portait of black & white buds opening to a stunning, colorful set of flowers. I am going to have it blown up real big, and make a nice wall decoration for my living room (if I ever get around to it).

Yes, Jan Pahl, this is true color...it is like an electric magenta. That is the best description I've got, it almost glows! Thank you all for your lovely comments.

Not to bring this one back up, but it did something interesting. The pictures I showed before are the way that this plant has always looked. Well, it's almost done blooming, and for the first time....the flowers have started to vary. The newer flowers are much more saturated in pink. I know this happens from time to time, but it looked really neat on this one! So here's some pics:

You're very talented with the camera and the plant is amazing. Was the cross ever named?

Thank you very much, it's always been one of my favorite hobbies....unfortunately, the four years I studied it in high school were the extent of my studies. I guess it was enough for learning the basics. It's funny you ask about the name....I just looked it up again the other day, because I thought about crossing it with something. I couldn't find anything in the registry. I know if that was my cross, I wouldn't hesitate at all to spend the thirteen dollars to register this one! Thanks for the compliments!:waving
