Here's another Tolumnia in bloom

flhiker 01-28-2009 09:41 PM

That's really nice looking, I have a few Tolumnia's a couple are in spike.

Jkelee 01-28-2009 09:45 PM

Thanks! I love me some Tolumnia's ;)
I have about 10-15 in spike right now!! I can't wait for them to open!!

Ethan 01-29-2009 12:00 AM

That is absolutely gorgeous!!! I already added it to my wish list!

maybe a silly question, but what are the main differences between oncidiums and tolumnias?

greenbean 01-29-2009 12:07 AM

Oh! I love tolumnias! I wish I had some. Your's is absolutely beautiful, and I'm a hard sell on a pink flower!

Jkelee 01-29-2009 07:22 AM

To me, the best difference is that Tolumnia's are much smaller plants than onci's. But flowers are the same size.

Oh fantastic!! This lil beauty just went WAY up on the spring to get list

Nice one, Jackie :D

Jklee - I am so excited!!! :chicken

I went to my local garden center today and they apparently got in a new shipment recently...and guess what...they had genting pink lady!!!

They only had two and the flowers aren't open yet, but thanks to your post, I knew what it looked like and I snatched that baby right up!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

greenbean 01-30-2009 05:11 PM

Don't be surprised if your tolumnias have their own unique spins on pink lady. They are notoriously variable, even when the plants have the same name. But don't worry, they'll still be beautiful and even better, they'll be unique!

Swamper 01-30-2009 05:38 PM

WOW beautiful flower

Ethan 01-30-2009 05:46 PM

Evan - please don't burst my bubble!!!!

LOL...just kidding...I'll love it regardless. Funny you mention that, though. I did a google image search and only a couple looked liked Jklee's. It will be interesting to see...one bud is about half way open...

Jklee...is yours fragrant at all? I've never had a tolumnia before....

greenbean 01-30-2009 06:21 PM

LOL Sorry Ethan, not trying to burst any bubbles. I think the variation is a plus!

Jkelee 01-31-2009 09:52 AM

Thanks everyone!!
And Ethan, no smelly on this baby :(

Leslie2934 02-03-2009 11:08 AM

Well these are definitely on my list. When I go to Hausermans sale at the end of the month. :drooling:

My genting pink lady has been in full bloom for a while now, I've just been lazy in getting a picture up.

Looks pretty much identical to yours, Jklee...thanks again for your post...I would have never gotten this one if it weren't for you!!

Dorothy 02-14-2009 09:21 AM

Tolumnia are so precious!
Thank you for sharing yours with us, Jackie and anyone else who has contributed photos
I know they are one of Ross' favorites

BTW, where is he? :hmm

CoolPhrog 02-14-2009 09:46 AM

Great little plant, Jackie! Bravo!!

(..._...) 02-14-2009 10:28 AM

Very nice! These tend to be very popular, they seem to sell out very quickly. They are so compact, yet have nice flowers. I should get one since it doesnt take up much space;)

Cam

Jkelee 02-14-2009 06:05 PM

Awww, Jkelee...that's not true!:( Yours actually seems to have a darker pink color to it, which I like better!

It's funny how the freckles are so random on this one....some flowers don't have any, others have lots of them or just one! I also love how when the flowers first open they're yellow which fades to the white you see in the pictures!

greenbean 02-16-2009 06:53 PM

What'd I tell ya! Tolumnias have the wonderful element of change!!! :)
