Those flowers are fantastic, Tim. Do they have any scent?

Steve

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Steve, they do have a scent. Definitely not a spice scent, but kind of a fruity-floral scent I guess would be a way to describe it. When I smell though, it makes me think of a "happy" scent, LOL!

I have Sweet Pinky 'Love' that has more of a floral scent - I'm going to take pics of it sometime soon and post. I have several more Nobile varieties loaded with buds too - if I can keep from knocking them off and the squirrels away from them.

I would love to see more pictures. Are you growing your Nobiles outside?

Amanda L 01-24-2009 02:40 PM

OOOOOO, I just love the Nobile types! They are so full and showey. More pictures please!

Don Perusse 01-24-2009 04:00 PM

I like white and I like this Den. Are the noble types more difficult to grow than the regular cane types? I don't have one at present but think I would like to add to my collection. Any special care?

Hi Guys – auto-reply didn’t work on this thread (well. the first few replies it did...), so I didn’t know you all had posts.

To lostonthebeach: yes, I grow outside and only move them on the back porch when the temps drop below 40.

To AmandaL: I have some more nobile’s that are loaded with buds (if I can just keep the tree rats from knocking the over…)

Hey Don! In my limited experience, I’m finding that nobile’s are easier to grow; I ignore them and the only water they get is when it rains or I accidentally throw some water their way. They can take lower temps, so that’s a plus!

Rolando: mine have been in bud for about the last two months. Probably the warm temps keep delaying bud set/blooming.

Again, thanks for the compliments! I received healthy plants from Yamamoto Dendrobiums Hawaii last summer.

Very nice Tim.
