Paph Pinocchio
It's beautiful and one of my favorite paphs! :) I don't have any paphs yet, but I know that this one will be one of the first ones I will get. I like the shape and colors very much, and prefer the multiflora paphs rather than the ones that only have one bloom per spike, so Pinocchio is perfect. I'm picky about paphs...

nice pinoccio.
Doc it is beautiful! congratulations :D
I was actually contemplating a Paph Pinocchio last night. I passed on it for another plant, but now wonder if I did the right thing. I love it!
Really nice, Howard. Isn't this the little guy just inside your GH that we talked about? Gotta get one (in the spring of course).

Many of these sequential bloomers go for months and months. I bought a species back in Feb.2007 that bloomed at the end of Feb. It is still in bloom and while it looks like it's slowing down a bit hasn't stopped yet. It's amazing. I love Pinocchio too. I gave one to my son who also likes Paphs.
I had no clue that they bloomed for so long. I thought that they only made a few buds per spike and that was it. I really must get one of these, and seems like the perfect candidate for my first paph! But with such a long spike, does it need a lot of support to avoid it snapping in half?
I used the longest metal support I had and about half of the spike extends past the end of the support!
that's amazing !! Your spike I mean !!!! I had a total of 11 flowers but my spike was a bit more compact. By the way I didn't say ,;But your flower is a lot prettier too!
Howard...Excellent! :bowing
I love seeing two blooms at the same time. Are they on seperate spikes, or are they both on the same spike? I have not had 2 blooms on the same spike occur at the same time with any sequentials in my collection. I've had two blooms on seperate spikes before, but not two on one as it appears to be in your photo. :D |
David, My Pinocchio (which was labelled as Paph. primulinum when I bought it, but the pounch is too white and the dorsal is too round and green for it to be the species) was able to carry two flowers on the same spike for some time:

My liemianum carried 2 for a couple of weeks before one dropped. It only did that once though. The rest of the blooms have been 1 at a time.
