I did it - OrchidWiz

I have been debating about this for quite a while and finally broke down.

I debated for so long. :scratchhead: Did I want to spend the money for OrchidWiz, or save that money towards the purchase of a new camera????? I decided my photography skills :photo: didn't warrant an expensive camera. OrchidWiz won out.

I also wondered if I could use the program if I bought a lap top, if all my files will transfer so I could use them on both. The way I understand the info, it will work even if I update to a different windows program. I hope I understand it correctly. I have bought computer programs which did not transfer. I hate going out to buy another program. :poke: I think of all the orchids I could buy for that extra money
........Waiting

Cool Marilyn!
You will love it!

If you have any problems at all, just contact Alex and he will help you. He's a very nice guy and always ready with an answer. I've never had a problem with the program but I have contacted him about other things and always got a quick response.

If you have any questions about using the program, you can always contact me and I'll try to answer your questions. I know I haven't used a lot of what the program offers but have played around with it enough to know how to answer basic questions.

Hi Marilyn...congrats on your new Orchid Wiz program.

I have been debating on getting this program myself, and decided to wait until after this Saturday (10/18) before making my purchase. It will depend on whether or not....

...I pass the color test part of the application process for becoming an AOS student judge! :yikes: I'm a little nervous, but yes, I have decided to take the plunge into judging chids at one of the AOS judging centers here in Florida. I will keep you posted.

I'm also bringing one of my vandas for exhibition and judging...hopefully I will have two pieces of good news to share on Sunday. :D

I just got a copy of OrchidWiz a few weeks ago (finally!) and I am absolutely satisfied. I dont know if you are familiar with the Baker care sheets (http://www.orchidculture.com/), but they are included in the species analysis in a much more visually friendly format than is posted on the Baker website. You'll love it!! Not to mention the fact that our very own Mauro Rosim is a HUGE contributor to the pictures of many orchids. An excellent resource!

Congratulations David!! That's a very cool way to give back to your hobby. You'll do great! Super good luck to your plant too. :)

Marilyn, you can install the OrchidWiz software on up to 2 computers and pretty sure it works with the latest and greatest (?) windows oerating system. Enjoy!

Yeah great program, you will get a lot out of it I'm sure.

Congrats, Marilyn

I sure to like mine. Talk about a wealth of information!!:bowing

I would love to have the program, and was seriously thinking about getting it, until I saw the price! :faint:

Bolero 10-16-2008 05:12 AM

Once you pay the original price, the ongoing upkeep relating to updating the program is quite reasonable. The initial price is high but really worth it if you can afford it. But the ongoing maintenance plan after the initial price is not to bad at all.

I know not everyone can afford it but if you get the chance then it's an investment.

Thanks guys, for all the encouragement. It helps to confirm the feeling that I made the right decision.

I took quite a bit of debating on my part because I feel I really could use a better camera. My reasoning finally came down to this, I'm not much of a photographer, I can take poor quality pictures with the camera which I have now, or I can buy a much better camera, for a lot of bucks, and still take badly designed photos.

I decided that learning more about the plants I have, and with that knowledge, learn how to grow them better, would be the wize way to go.

:hmm Another benefit; think of all the orchids I could buy with the difference of cost between a camera and OrchidWiz.

The down side; where do I put the extra plants when I am already out of space??????????

Marilyn

My philosophy has always been to buy plants first and look for space later.

Since when does an orchid buyer have proper logic???

lol
