Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my current blooming vanda type. I have another vanda in spike which I will share when it opens (same one as in my avatar). I like the Princess Mikasa because it blooms very easily for me, grows well, and is my first vanda to give me two spikes (and both were unexpected as it bloomed in May)!

Hey! Great job Jenn! Mine is currently in spike. I can't wait to see it open :)

Swamper 09-25-2008 02:31 PM

WOW that's beautiful Jenn, nothing else to add except...wish it was mine :)

I am glad everyone is enjoying it. I think it is really neat how much darker it gets as it ages...
Pic 1 shows the younger spike and the flower just opening (with a sideways orientation too that is kind of cool). If you compare it to the others you can see how different the color is.

Jenn,

Wonderful! :bowing Congrats on your two spikes at once (don't you just love it when they do that...especially when it's on a plant as beautiful as this one)! Blues are my favorites...for right now anyway!

Congrats, JennS! These are always impressive flowers!

That's really cool Jenn I thought it was lighter cause of the flash but I guess not, very cool though. What kind of tree is that? Some kind of pine? ANd I see some small ferns on it too, almost like resurrection ferns but too big I guess. Great pics

  GORGEOUS

You are correct that they are resurrection ferns. Or at least that is what I have heard them called. They perk up when it rains. I don't know if they are smaller sometimes, but that is the kind I see around Orlando.

And yes, it does start off much lighter. This morning my V. Tharab Blue started opening which is a cross with a coreulea and it is much lighter then I remembered it being. It will darken up too as it ages. So neat, they always keep me guessing.

Yes, this is my first time ever getting 2 spikes. Very exciting! I absolutely love it!
