I have a couple of these currently in bloom in my collection. The flowers are eye-catching with their bright chartreuse sepals and petals and deep purple spotted lip. I have these plants growing under 50 percent shade cloth. At the time this photograph was taken, the plant had 3 flowers and one bud on one inflorescence.

WOW really nice there
Well, Sunshine, I guess it pays to live in a climate where you can grow such beauties....all of the pics I've seen of yours are just breath-taking. Congrats on a job well done!
Sweet! That's a stunning bloom. Thanks for the picture!:waving
Very, very, lovely. I just love the big "skirt" and the recurved sepals and petals. Makes me want to move to Hawaii. Thanks for the pic.
That's a real beauty alright! Must add that one to my wish list. :)
moi too
Wow! That is just beautiful. I need one!
Oh Yeah!
Hawaiian SunShine,
Thanks for the great photo...and for giving me yet another beauty to add to my wish list! Amongst others, I am partial to green cattleyas, and with the bright contrasting lip, I can't refuse. Happy growing ~ David |
WOW! what great lip color, great plant.
Awesome color on that baby!!!
HS that is BEAUTIFUL !!!! Just like all of your chids. Congrats !!!!

Great photo and growing Sunshine. I love the vibrant colors. Hawaii will probably get more visitors with pictures like yours.
You can add California to the list of places 'Limelight' grows too ;)
Mine has buds right now and was searching the internet to see what the blooms will look like, because I'm impatient, and after seeing yours I can't wait! |
Thanks everyone for your complimentary comments. It's the blooming season time for this clone. The plants are hardy and easy growers. The blooms will last for couple of weeks although the dark chartreuse petals and sepals will fade to a lighter chartreuse.
Nice one Sunshine! Mine is currently in sheath. Last year it bloomed around the end of August so I'm expecting about the same this year. I find this one to not be terribly picky, though mine seems to like an annual spring repot to get it going.

Hi
That orchid is really an eye catcher. I would love to have one too but my chances of getting hold of one in Oz are practically nil. Lucky you. Sue :goodluck: |
My plant is blooming! It is popular in Taiwan. People who love nodosa and its cross usually have this one.

I bought mine from a society member that was moving and selling his last year. Also picked up 1 from someone else moving. Didn't know what it was till it bloomed. They both struggled but are doing fine now. 1 in a pot the other mounted. I love when these bloom. I'll keep you in mind if I have another division maybe next year or find one. |

:hello Today I met a nice lady who lives near me that grows Catts and Dens. Her name is Gale Tillman (Coconut Orchids). First thing I saw when I walked through the door was a 'Limelight'. It was love at first sight! I walked around the whole place, but bought that plant on the way out. It has 2 spikes with 3 buds on each. It is growing in a coconut!
Nice purchase. Enjoy your flowers. It looks like the blooming season for the 'Limelight' is the same in Florida as it is in Hawaii. A couple of others are in bloom in my collection. They stand out because the inflorescences are tall and flowers are held above the foliage.
Thanks! Does it open darker green then fade to lighter green? I know what you mean about the tall spikes. I love that. All 3 buds on one spike are open now. Probably a few more days on the other. Do they last long? I hope so. It would be nice to have 6 blooms all at once!
Seems like mine lasted at least a month last year. I can't remember for sure though.
Great purchase Susie. I am hoping I add one to my collection soooooooooon! I have a lead, just need to follow-up and finalize
:blushing: Thanks Don. By the way, I will be going up to Tallahassee next week. Are there any good orchid-y things to do up there? Is Callaway Gardens a nice place to see?

Sorry Susiep but, NO orchid-y things to do in Tallahassee. There are private collections and a fairly large club but not public places to visit and NO nurseries that sell any quantity of orchids. Just like the box stores, Phals etc. Too late club met last week (always the first Thurs. of the month) Have a nice trip!

Ok, Don. Thanks for responding!
