Which of these orchids should I choose?
Sooo, Im going to my local greenhouse again soon, and plan on picking up one (1), une, uno, orchid. ahem....
im running out of space:biggrin: :blushing: . So yes, which of these four do you think I should choose? Odontocidium Wildcatt 'Bobcat' Oncidium Sweet Sugar 'Tresor' leparadisdesorchidees - Information detaillee sur l Orchidee Odontonia Fort Point leparadisdesorchidees - Information detaillee sur l Orchidee Blc. Mahina Yahiro 'Ulii' http://www.cloudsorchids.com/images/5785_0.jpg    Thanks! Cam |
I would choose the Fort Point without hesitation. I have always loved this plant, but the summers are too hot here for it to do well. :bua:
|
1 - Odontonia Fort Point
2 - Close tie to Blc. Mahina Yahiro 'Ulii' 3 - Oncidium Sweet Sugar 'Tresor' 4 - and Odontocidium Wildcatt 'Bobcat' comes in last but not least Some images of 'Bobcat' - Odontocidium Wildcat 'Bobcat' - Google Image Search  :goodluck: |
I would'nt choose... I'd take them all jejejeje :D
...but.... if you MUST I'd go with Odontonia Fort Point |
Cam, I just had the strangest thought. You'll buy them all in any event... and your excuse will be " the folk on OB suggested I take all four, I really only wanted one."  . Course I could be wrong...

Prizie and bellini - spoken like a true orchidaholics !
:coverlaugh: |
I love those BLCs no contest for me. Ask me next week I may change my mind.
|
Takes one to know one my dear Dorothy :coverlaugh:
|
I personally would take the Blc., however, I am also drawn to the Bobcat. This is the ultimate dilema, isn't it? :scratchhead: Not if we can care for another orchid, and not if we can afford more...but where can we put them?
Get them all and hang them from the rafters! :dunno: I'm sorry, I am no help! This is definitely my weak area. :( |
That it does, Prizie ,that it does ;)
:coverlaugh: |
I would choose Fort Point as well! It's just gorgeous! :cheer: I like the Bobcat too but I see it for sale a lot so it's not as much as a "thrill" you know? But it's still so pretty. :D
|
I vote for the Odontonia Fort Point
|
I think it depends more on your conditions and ability to grow the various plants. Colmanara Wildcat will probably be the easiest to grow and bloom season after season. Also, with so many flowers, it will bloom for the longest period.
|
If it were me, I would go with the wildcat bobcat. They bloom 2x per year, with months of blooms to follow.
It does well in lower light, loves water like a fish - easy grower too. All your choices are nice Cam. :D |
Well..... I suppose it wouldn't hurt to buy two:blushing:
so you folks obviously love the bloom of "Fort Point" as much as I do, and as phantasm and gloria bring up, the wildcat grows well AND is an easy bloomer... sooo since Fort point is a relatively small plant.. maybe I'll buy.. say.... 2...:blushing: :blushing: |
Good deal, let us know when you get them home
|
and you are NOT getting the blc?
how could you! |
Somewhere on the board is a pic of Fort Point that is so spectacular I'd choose it if I could only have one.........but....I do have a couple of wildcats and, and......oh, shoot, get them both and throw in the blc and name it for snow 'cause he made you do it!
Al EDIT here is the thread: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ort-point.html get one for me too!! |
When I looked at the list before opening the pictures, I assumed my first choice would be the Blc...but I was wrong! :faint: Shhhh...don't tell my husband ;)
The Fort Point is magnificent...then the Blc ;) ...or all of them! Al, thanks for bringing up Todd's photo...what a showstopper!!! |
Shall we call you Cam instead of Morse Code Man? :D
Cam - did you check out the other 2 Odontioda from Paramount I posted in the thread Al posted? |
