Here too. I've been taking things outside. Today started putting out the Adeniums, which are the least cold tolerant things I put out.

Ray 02-25-2025 11:18 PM

No quite, here. Need another 6-8 weeks - although with the winter we've had, who knows?

RJSquirrel 02-26-2025 02:51 AM

Tis been a crazy winter. Less than a month ago my backyard was in 3 inches of snow. Yesterday 73 degrees and had to turn the AC on. Headed towards 80 today.

Only had a few weeks that was really miserable. All told I think it was a good winter :)

I always enjoy the photos you post of your orchids and your beautiful growing area. Alas, mine stay indoors all year round, for a variety of reasons, but I am very happy to be approaching spring.:)

All right you lot in your far more temperate climates it's 6C (42F) here today, grey and raining. :_(

estación seca 02-26-2025 11:46 AM

We had the warmest winter I remember since 1985. I didn't need to turn on my heat pump. One night we had temperatures just down to freezing but it was very brief. But it hasn't rained significantly since last Spring.

You're more than welcome to come join us, if you like.

I started to bring my vandas outside today, but turned out with other things needed taken care of. The only problem I had with that little coating of snow few days back, was my new young pommelo(red) lost a couple dozen leaves and most of the rest turned white but stayed on the tree. Its doing well though. Sure got nice outside today. Thanks for shareing your great pictures Rj.

Just lamenting Kansas weather. And it's all my fault... lived here all my life.

Waterdog111 02-28-2025 10:22 AM

I had a good friend from there once. He was from Dodge.

It barely dipped below 45 F on our balcony this winter. My adenium and plumeria didn't even lose their leaves (yet?).

Dalachin 03-01-2025 02:17 PM

25 degrees F and dropping fast! It’s a long way from tropical here.

estación seca 03-05-2025 10:01 AM

We're expecting a cool winter rain. Adeniums coming back inside.

WaterWitchin 03-05-2025 10:04 AM

Blizzard winds here, up to 70mph gusts, only about an inch of snow. :(( It was 70F two days ago. Thinking of pruning two of my adeniums. :blushing:

A neighbor used to say we always have one more cold spell after Easter. I haven't thought about that for a long while.

RJSquirrel 03-13-2025 09:54 PM

90 today set a record for earliest 90-degree day in the year. So much for spring!!

Waterdog111 03-13-2025 10:12 PM

Its hard for Me to believe that Ive only taken two of my vandas back outside but Ill get the rest back out soon. Guess I’m halfstepping.

Keysguy 03-14-2025 08:01 AM

I am SO thankful I don't have to deal with this "in? or out?" question anymore!

FranningtonBear 03-14-2025 09:53 AM

Still freezing over here - had snow on Wednesday!

aihpcfl 03-14-2025 12:24 PM

We are in that period of early spring where nighttime temperatures will be in the 60s F for a few days and then the high 40s and low to mid-50s for a few days as weather fronts move through.

Spring is here, though. Bluebird incubating eggs in the nest box and hatch day is close, the male chasing other birds away. Green coming out on the Beautyberry and American Wisteria out in the yard, and the Wax Myrtle is flowering. The Sunshine Mimosa ground cover is coming back. Love this time of year, before it gets steaming hot, except that steaming hot time is great for the phalaenopsis.
