Werkhauser-eyes!
Sooo..
I just had my first child! A very proud dad of a healthy little son!!! I know baby eyes change color but he was born with dark gray blue eyes. I took one look at them and i thought "those are Werkhauser-eyes!" I havent seen a werkhauserii in the flesh but it was uncanny in my minds eye! I have cinderosa and carnea but i do not have a werkhauserii, and since he was born in May I thought I should get one to comemorate, and hopefully bloom in celebration of his birthday each year. I have found a few online, but i thought i would ask here first: Does anyone have divisions of a nice werkhauserii they would be willing to sell or trade to me? If you have any intetest, please let me know and I will offer you what i have! Thanks! |
No divisions from me, but congratulations on the birth of your son! How exciting!
|
Congratulations!
|
Congratulations! Alas, no division to offer...
|
Thank you folks! I couldnt be happier!
How about reccomendations for the best place to buy a good one? |
Maybe Santa Barbara Orchid Estate - they grow a lot of C (L) purpuratas.
|
Congratulations on the birth of your son!! All best to you and your family.
I have a tiny seedling from Jewell Orchids, and they're still listed on the website. Not a division or big plant, but still a werkhauseri (striata) variety. |
Hausermann offers seedlings and divisions from time to time. Give them a call.

Congratulations! We just finished that chapter in our lives when our youngest moved away for a new job. We loved nearly every moment of it. I hope you will have as much fun as we did. :)
I was going to recommend Hausermann's, too. They usually sell different sizes for different prices. If they do not have any ready currently, they will likely have them soon. |

I did order a Werkhauserii from Jewell (thanks orchidman77!) along with another purpurata (schusteriana) and my first luddemaniana. Im normally a bifoliate species guy but these labiate species are worming their way onto my heart too. I decided it was fitting to get a seedling and they can grow up together. |
Congratulations! A possible few sleepless nights heading your way but that passes quickly and they grow up fast!
|
congratulations! my 3 year old loves playing in my new greenhouse but I'm still working on the "putting her to work" part.

Late to the party once again, but WhooHooo! Congratulations to you and yours... it's a wonderful and humbling stage of life. You'd find strengths and weaknesses you never realized you posses. The years pass more rapidly than you'll realize until it's look back time. Embrace every minute of it.
|
Ha! Later than WW! Congrats on your new son. Everything that has been said so far is true. Treasure every moment, good and bad. And remember...HE IS WATCHING YOU. Oh, and they grow up and give you grandkids! We have 8.
|
Thanks everyone! I thought this thread was gonna be about purpuratas but parental encouragment and support is so much more helpful!
|
This is so wholesome to read! Louis, I'm glad you got some seedlings, and yes - the labiate catts will get anyone in enough time, at least that's my steadfast opinion - they're glorious!

He "helps out" when I water the "planties" which is very cute. He's starting to get into it a little bit which is fun. We are sleeping, and he's a happy guy. All is well. Thanks! |
