I bought some new plants!!!

Ok, some flowering sized seedlings which are quite substantial in size. One plant has come to me in bud, they have just come through Quarantine so the roots weren't great but I can see new ones quickly forming. Very happy with these and hopeful of big things in future! I am sure you can imagine my excitement when they arrived. I had a bit of trouble measuring them properly so these are approximate sizes.

All the plants together:

Paph sanderianum - woohoo!!! (550mm)

Paph Dollgoldi x 2 - best hybrid ever! (420mm to 450mm)

Paph hangianum - a favourite of mine (along with all other paphs) - (320mm)

Paph rothschilianum - 2 growths, a bud with a third tiny new growth forming at the base of the plant. I can't wait to see how this bud turns out. Hopefully it survives. - (over 600mm wide for main growth)

Paph malipoense and two In-Charm Handels (hangianum x delenatii) - (270mm for the malipoense and just over 300mm for the In-Charm Handels)

I agree with you about dollgoldi - I saw a first bloom seedling that was huge and had a stunning colour. Not only that - it was a nice , compact size.

What a great haul !
I once was scared of Paphs....the leaves and flowers looked very delicate and might die on me....it was Glengary54 who convinced me to man up and gave me my very first Paph and now it just blooms and blooms for me ....

Yes that is a spike on the mature growth.

Gasp! You got a roth in bud?! I'm so jealous of you! And TWO Dollgoldi?! They're beautiful primary hybrids, and I'm regretting not getting a BS one this spring ( I am going to get one next spring though, as long as it's still available). I just love roth x parvi primaries. :blushing:

Congrats on some very great Paphs there.

Congrats on some very great Paphs there.

I am really happy with them, I have the day off from work on this lovely 70F (21C) spring day so I've been going out to the shade house to admire them.

It makes me think it's worth the money buying mature plants instead of buying flasks all the time which will take forever to bloom.

I'm even more jealous of you now, 'cause here it's autumn...

I agree, and if I could afford it, I would buy more mature plants than I do. I usually buy seedlings, and forget that they might grow up one day, so I buy more, because "Hey, I've got plenty of space!". Four roths, one PEoY, one MK, one stonei, one Delrosi, and a future Dollgoldi, all in the same window... It's going to get crowded!

I really look forward to your roth's flowers. They are really impressive.

I hope they turn out ok, fingers crossed. If not I guess I have two other growths coming that might do better.
