Incense smoke near orchid, harmful?
Hello,
I have my incense stick thing near my phal. Ive heard cigarette smoke is bad for orchids so I was wondering if it's safe to have the incense near it. Thanks! |
I think I've heard it can be for some orchids.
I personally avoid it just in case. |
it can clog the pores in the leaves or something, im not exactly sure but id keep them separate to be safe
|
Yea I wanted to keep them seperate, the only thing is I live in a small apartment and there's really no good place for the incense other than by my orchid which is by the sliding glass door haha. Oh well.
|
Go to the Salvation Army and buy a cheap air filter and keep it near the insense.
|
As my house has filled with orchids I've stopped using insense because I don't have anywhere away from the plants.
An air filter might help, but surely the point of insense is to be able to smell it in the room. If the air filter removes everything that might hurt the plant I doubt you would smell it. |
If It were me..I'd move the orchid when the incense is lit.. put it back next day whenever the incense has burned out..
I think Rosie has a valid point. So when you want to smell incense put the 'chid in an other room..... |
You might try candles instead- or even better, get one of the cheap little candle warmers that warms the wax without burning the candle itself. Or, just get some of the wax tarts and an oil/wax warmer thing. That's what I do.
|
I've used candles in the same roon as my orchids we no sign of problems. Can't say 100% it's safe, but it's not caused me problems.
|
I mistakenly assumed the insense was for religeous purposes.
