Anacheilium cochleatum

I know its been done to death this one, but hey its in bloom now.
It smells very sweet and the sugary dew it gives off is good!!!! |
Wonderful, is this the same thing as Encyclia cochleata, it looks very like mine.
Mine had a lot of sticky sap/dew coming out by the flowers, is that normal for these? My hubby love these. He puts up with my hobby very well and never really complains, but he actually said to me a couple of days ago "I hope you get that one with the squid shaped flowers to bloom again, I really like that". I really hope I do as well! |
Way cool,I love these flowers, like a little jellyfish or something :)good growing!

Thanks guys. I have not been able to stop this one from blooming. Its in regular bark charcoal orchid mix, under those bright lights, lots of T5's. It really is a blooming machine. Its not very humid at all there and temperatures remain around 75 or so year round. Also I think this one has gone by a few names, Anacheilium, Prostecha, Encyclia, and I don't know which one is currently accepted.[/FONT]

Cool. how many T5s?

I like lumping, and then splitting. I like lumping families or subfamilies or tribes, but love splitting species and genera. hehe. Thanks for the clarification!

Whatever it's called I love them. Mine is sitting on a table beside the stairs at home and I love looking down on it over the banister as I walk down the stairs. |
