Blooming Gongora Chocoensis

I just received this from e-bay in spike. Two weeks later the opening processs began and over three days it fully opened! Was told they look like bats... I don't see it. What I see is a pheonix flying throught the air with burning feathers! Enjoy the photos.

Wow that is so cool! I don't quite see the bat's either...but if I imagine really hard, then I can see it...lol...it just looks more like a bird in flight to me. Great pictures and thanks for sharing! I will definitely add this to my wish list!

Great species and great photo sequence! I always think that these guys look like vampire pterodactyls, though a flying phoenix with burning feathers is a pretty cool image too!

Thanks everyone! I've noticed in the last 2-3 days that the outer pettles are starting to kind of close... is that natural or are they already dying?

Unfortunately Gongora flowers are not known for their longevity. They are probably dying off.

Awwww man, was hoping that they'd still be in bloom by the end of the month so my mother could see. But thank you for the info Steve!
