Should I repot this Max. Tenuifolia.
 

Hey Everyone,
I think I am supposed to wait until the pseudobulbs start pushing the outside the pot. However, I have no idea how to handle the stacking pseudobulbs of this Max. What do you do with the top new pseudobulbs that just keep climbing? Also, I would like to make as many seperate plants as possible. What is the back bullb to new growth ratio for repotting. I may be able to get three new pants out of this but really have no idea. Thanks for any help.

Absolutely nothing that the beauty of Max tenuifolia

I would go with a bigger pot allow for two years growth from the last time you repot this orchid. Maybe someone else will advise differently. Thinks for sharing this beauty!

I think it looks great! The 'stacking' is normal as these guys spread horizontally and vertically. I'd avoid dividing it too much. Keeping it bigger will enable you to get bigger and more frequent divisions from it by just cutting the vertical growths and potting them individually.

Has it bloomed yet...within the past year. If not, let it go until fall. Max. T. like to be forced into bloom by crowding. Otherwise divide and repot it.

That plant is gorgeous. If the potting mix is ok, don't go messing with it. It hates repotting anyhow.

Thanks for the advice. I forgot to mention something. Recently the pseudobulbs have started to wrinkle a little. Haven't increased or decreased water over that time. I thought it might be stressed by compacted roots. This Max. bloomed from mid April and until about a week ago. It has about 13 new growths. Hey Royal, you mentioned cutting the vertical bulbs as divisions and potting those. What about roots? Do you have to induce arial roots? The vertical pseudobulbs have new growths all over them but no roots. This is my first and only Max. so I just don't know. I miss the sweet smell of this orchid. Felt like was at the beach everytime I opened the door to my grow room. However my oncidium "Twinkle" has finally bloomed to give me a new air freshener. Thanks again.

That plant looks great! I'd leave it alone, they like to climb over each other :)

My only suggestion might be a heavier pot for stability because it looks a little top-heavy. Just sitting the existing pot inside a slightly larger clay pot would be fine.
