Reppoting an unruly Cattlianthe Male

You could try potting in just the lower 1/3 to 1/4 of a tall container, such as:

The tall container's sides should only allow growths to go up, rather than sideways.

Some Cattleya plants just have a climbing and naturally unruly habit.
