OK this is just me but that plant looks like it is way to deep in the pot to just drop it into another pot. Is it? You don't want the PSB under the media. I think you can take scissors and cut that pot up. Very carefully. I also agree with es that it will need to be soaked about every day. I have very low humidity also and I have some in small pots that I have to do just that. And there in bark.

What is the name of the Cattleya? I thought I should ask because if it is a C. aclandiae or has it as one of the parents, the rules might be a little different. If not, just ignore the post.

As you can see, there is almost zero media in the pot.

I thought the same thing. As the plant grows, it is eventually going to run into the side of that pot and have nowhere else to go. I think at this point it would be easy to very carefully snip the pot with scissors and remove it piece by piece. If there are pieces that are hopelessly tangled in roots, it is okay to leave parts of the pot behind, but you've got to get the rhizome higher up where it can be on the surface of the medium and unobstructed by the side of the pot.

With that being said, I agree with everything else. Pots that small with little growing medium or with chunky growing medium will need to be watered every day.

But look how much better the roots in this photo taken after soaking for almost an hour look compared with the photo in my OP.

Seems like the simplest thing is to carefully cut away the pot and put the plant in a small basket or clear plastic pot with some Mighty 109 premium fir bark. I'll do it in the morning after soaking the roots for an hour.

If the roots are too wound up in the slats of the basket, you could just cut off the top portion of the basket and drop it in another pot or basket of your choice. Leaving some of the plastic attached will not hurt it and it might be a good compromise so you disturb it as little as possible

I would not cut the pot. You don't need to. The last thing you want to do is risk damaging roots. Just put it into the next pot, with or without medium. The plant should grow rapidly, and soon the part in that small basket will be old and dead.

Ok. Let's go a step further, when is it acceptable to repot if the plant is growing AND in bloom?
