I thought the same thing. As the plant grows, it is eventually going to run into the side of that pot and have nowhere else to go. I think at this point it would be easy to very carefully snip the pot with scissors and remove it piece by piece. If there are pieces that are hopelessly tangled in roots, it is okay to leave parts of the pot behind, but you've got to get the rhizome higher up where it can be on the surface of the medium and unobstructed by the side of the pot.
With that being said, I agree with everything else. Pots that small with little growing medium or with chunky growing medium will need to be watered every day.
