Repot Phal in bloom/bud?
I have this huge Phal, she is a water hog. She needs water every 2 to 3 days. I'm wondering if it would be okay to repot while she is blooming? Will she
lose the blooms?

Phals don't seem to care when they are repotted, even in bloom. Remember, fresh media will dry out faster than old, so be sure that you increase the watering frequency to maintain hydration - getting too dry is a good way to lose buds.

Thanx, I was kinda under the impression that if I re-pot with the intention of retaining more water, that it would speed up the flowering process. She's been "threatening" to bud for quite awhile now. The media is mostly roots.

The plant will bloom when it feels like it... some may sit and tease you for months, there's nothing that you can do to speed up the process... any sudden changes, in fact, are more likely to cause bud blast. Orchids teach patience. Repotting will retain less water, not more... Phals hate to be soggy. If the contents of the pot is mostly roots (as opposed to broken down media) you are probably best off just leaving it alone. Phals love a wet-dry cycle on their roots. So water well, let them dry out for a few days, repeat.

Repotting now isn't an issue for a Phal.
(As an aside, this is a HUGE database. Why don't people search for previous posts on the same subject to make sure their posts aren't redundant???)

I am unable to get the search to work. maybe others can't as well. It would be helpful if the search feature was suggested for newbies. If I missed instructions to it I'm sorry. It certainly would stop a lot of repeat posts.

I am unable to get the search engine to work with my phone. I have discovered if I cut and paste my topic into the search box, it works. That being said, it is a huge database and sometimes you read a lot of posts in order to get the desired info.

I am using my phone and perhaps that's the problem. The search tells me the words are too short ? Thank you for your response.

May be redundant to you. You don't have to respond, or read. You could have asked an admin. this question.
I've had a hard enough time navigating this site as it is.

Advanced Search has always worked on my Android phone. I just tried it with both Opera and Firefox browsers. I searched successfully on Grammatophyllum.
When you click on Search a box pops up with a text entry field, and the words Advanced Search below. Click on Advanced Search and go to the full search page. You don't have to fill in the whole page; just put something in the upper left text box.
