Is this potting mix suitable?
Default Is this potting mix suitable?

It is my first time repotting my collection of orchids.
I bought a bag of orchid potting mix to use but it does not look very good, most of my orchids are potted in large chunks of bark but this new mix seems to be very fine.

I am repotting mostly phalaenopsis and a few oncidium, one paphiopedilum and one cymbidium.
does this look suitable for them?

Judging by the photo only I would use it only on my Paph...with a little more bark mixed.

I think a paph and cymbidium night go for it. An oncidium might in it has miltonia in it.

If that much were mine, I would sieve it, and rinse it throughly. I would use it as above stated but, the finer pieces might be suitable for oncidiums.

The reason for sieving and rinsing is to remove the fines which will suffocate the roots. I have literally picked out the proper sized pieces to accommodate a particular plant.

I would put the Phalaenopsis in larger bark. The other 3 could grow in that. You will water less often in that.
