Phalaenopsis roots coming out bottom of pot

Hello!

I've had this Phalaenopsis orchid from Trader Joe's for a little over a year. I repotted it in an 8 inch pot in June. Now there are roots coming out the holes on the bottom. I think there is also a little flower spike coming.

Should I repot it again, even though I just did so 3 months ago? Is that bad for the new spike?

Also, it is completely normal to have roots poking out holes in the bottom and sides. No harm at all, and you can just tuck them in when you repot the next time. Personally, I wouldn't repot with a spike coming.

Phals naturally produce aereal roots. When they come from the bottom of the pot it's still OK. In fact, that yours is doing so is an indication that the plant is quite happy.

Phals (and other orchid types) like to explore with their roots. More than once I've repotted Phals and discovered that more of the roots where outside the pot than inside! Wasn't a question of medium quality, just that the plant felt like doing its own thing. Sometimes all those roots are a pain to deal with on my shelves, but I let my plants do what they want.

The photo is a perfect example of this. My Phal gigantea seedling is clearly feeling 'nope' about the whole living in a pot thing, and has now firmly mounted itself to the saucer under the pot.
