LOC is an awesome source. Andy's also carries some of the true miniatures. I'd say my mini-Phal collection is about 50-50 between them.
LOC?

Thanks, Matt. LOC and Andy's are very reliable vendors who sell great plants AND just happen to carry miniature Phals. By the way, if you go looking for miniature Phals I highly recommend avoiding P appendiculata, which is both the smallest and among the trickiest of all Phals to grow.

The more I think about this log, the more worried I'm becoming. That the log came from brackish water bothers me. Salt and orchids just aren't going to get along, and I have no idea how to make sure that all of the salt is out of that log.

Salt doesn't penetrate deeply into wood except where there are cracks or cuts. Soaking in a barrel for several days, then changing the water a few times, should be enough. And with frequent watering, small amounts of salt that do make their way to the surface after soaking will be washed off quickly.
