Best time to repot phaps - When?
Hello, my friends
I have two phaps (cool growers) in the same pot. They still have room to grow one more year but I suspect the medium is startin to decay (they are in that pot for, at least, 2 years).
They are now showing little sheaths so I think this is not the best time. Maybe in spring, when new grow starts to show?

The best time is whenever there is active root growth and a reasonable expectation that conditions over the next few months will support active growth. Usually this means spring, though some grow actively year round. But I strongly suggest that for most Paphs and most care conditions it should never be more than 2 years between repotting, and any chance that media has gone bad is a reason to repot sooner rather than later. Also, for most Paphs, if they can't maintain sheaths/spikes/buds/flowers through repotting then their health was in serious question already. If you think you can manage them until spring that's fine, but definitely repot then, and I would plan to repot most Paphs every year.

I think they can hold on until next spring. I will post actual pics of the plants so that you can see how they are.

While I agree that just as new growths with new roots emerging is the ideal time, I find paphs to be particularly forgiving about when they're reported - dormant, active, in spike, in bud, in bloom - it doesn't seem to matter.

The plant looks healthy, and does have new growth, so it should have actively growing roots. Go for it, and the sooner the better.
While I agree with Ray that healthy Paphs often tolerate repotting well at any stage, it is not true of all types of Paphs. Brachypetalum and Parvisepalum types are not usually so tolerant, they have the truest dormancy of any Paphs, and for Paphs that have been through long term stress it can be the last straw. Your plant is not that type though, and it healthy and at the right stage.
