Cattleyas are very tough so I think yours will do just fine. Every year, I seem to buy a few Cattleyas that are in need of a new set of roots and they all survive. While I do prefer to find healthy roots tucked away in the pot, a rootless Cattleya doesn't even bother me any more. Some of the Cattleyas will not bloom for a year or two while recovering but others will bloom the next blooming cycle.

One thing I have discovered about Cattleyas is that, like most plants, they appreciate Calcium. Often, this is naturally present in tap water but if it isn't, you may need to add a source.

Good luck!

Tips for posting Photos This may help.

I agree with Leafmite. I have been adding calcium/magnesium to my fert water for a year or more now with better results.

I have an update on the Cat. without roots. I used the KelpMax, let it sit in it overnight. Next day I potted it in new medium and put a plastic bag over it. I looked at it several weeks later and saw hat he buds were beginning to swell. it is now 8-24-16 and I hope I can attach the pictures to this thread. There a beautiful white roots and 4 shoots and it looks like it is going to be fine. I gradually opened the plastic bag so it accumulated to the normal greenhouse humidity.
If the photos do not come through they are in an album of mine titled No Id's or something like that. There are 3 pictures of the new shoots and the roots.
Thank you, thank you Ray.!!!
The site is telling me that the pictures could not be uploaded because a security code was missing.
Hope you look at the

Thanks, estacion seca. I have some others that I hope it will work on as well. Always wanted to see the Sonroan Desert, I grow a some succulents and a few cacti. Not sure how they will do when I get the humidity up in my greenhouse.

So happy it is starting to grow roots. I too use Ray's kelpMax and think it is helping me. I didn't go look at your pictures as this sight won't let me at this time.
