Default Paph armeniacum repot! Please help!!!

Hello all,
I just bought this Paph armeniacum which has a flower bulb. The seller told me to repot the orchid when I get home because it was stuffed with sphagum moss. Should I repot it right away? Will it damage the flower?
Thanks guys

I've repotted many a paph in bloom without issue. And if the grower recommends it, I definitely would. (They transport in moss to hold some moisture at the roots, but sphag is tricky to deal with on an ongoing basis and most paphs would prefer another media.) Just be careful with the spike when repotting. And don't forget to post a pic when done.

Exciting to have a new paph…and in spike!

Paphs (& Phrags) can be repotted any time of the year, and whether the plant is in bud/flower or not).

I prefer to repot in April-May but any plant coming in potted in unsuitable (for my growing conditions) material, is repotted on the spot.

NOTE: I have seen a lot of Paphs, which were repotted too high in the mix. It is VERY important that Paphs be potted at the correct height. For blooming size plants:

Smaller growing plants: Root crown 1/4" below surface.
Medium to large plants: Root crown 3/8" below surface.
Large complex hybrids & large multiflorals: Root crown 1/2" below surface.

If the plant is too high in the mix, it will have difficulty developing new roots.

Yeah, they are nice. I bought a young one, so it will be a while before I see blooms.
