Funny thing is, I had fished around with my fingers trying to find the little clear pot, but it was buried so deep under wet moss that I totally missed it until I started pulling stuff out.

Anyways, even with the holes I cut in the clear plastic, the roots look pretty soggy and gross, so tomorrow I may repot them as I'd originally planned.

I always repot any 'chid I buy from any kind of big box store, or grocery store. It gives me peace of mind to know what the roots look like and get it into the potting media of my choice. I prefer bark for pots. I find that 'chids potted in moss from BB stores are so tightly packed that the moss takes forever to dry out and the roots can't breathe.
It shouldn't cause any of your blooms to fall off, or any of the buds to blast. I've never had an issue. Just make sure to not knock the flower stem, or man handle the plant.

If I get an orchid in moss from a store I don't necessarily re-pot right away unless the roots look bad. What I will do is gently tease out some of the moss that it comes packed in because most of the time it's so tightly wadded in there it's strangling the roots. So far I've never had and blooms or buds fall from doing that. I enjoy the blooms and then repot after it's done blooming.
