In my opinion that plant could stay in that moss indefinitely, as long as it is getting good air circulation.

the moss is old and dead - blackish.
and like a dry husk holding everything in.

it grew a fine white mold a year ago which i stopped with some alcohol but i stopped misting after that and it stayed away.

i'm not so much afraid to repot as i am just too busy, and afraid to not repot if it needs it! i will repot it in the next year for sure

It is growing out of the pot! Repot NOW in fresh mix. Moss will not live forever no matter what the ventilation! There is an old saying "When in doubt, repot".

The dried is dead but I actually do put some plants in live s. moss. The dead moss can really break down over time and turn soil like, then that can smother the orchids roots.
