Repotted Brassia Gireoudiana Towne Hill Female
Default Repotted Brassia Gireoudiana Towne Hill

I recently acquired a large Brassia Gireoudiana that was in a 7 in pot with 6 pbulbs, it was potted in coconut husk with a little bit of perlite. At first I was going to wait until spring to repot it, but then noticed that it may have had a bug infestation (found a centipede or somesuch in the humidity water).

So I got some media (repotme oncidium imperial) and went to the task of repoting this beast. What I found was that the media was holding a lot of water (I had not watered it after I got it) and a lot of the roots that were near the bottom and in the middle were rotted.

I recently read that after repotting a plant shouldn't be watered until after new growth is spotted. So should I water (with superthrive) or wait?

I don't have experience with "straight" Brassia (only intergenerics that are part Brassia), but I wouldn't think that it would want to be dry for long, recently repotted or not. If it were mine, I'd water normally.
