Repotting my trichopilea. Mount on cork or pot in a basket ? Male
Question Repotting my trichopilea. Mount on cork or pot in a basket ?

Just rec'd my new trichopilea tortillis. after a few days of resting in the shade & recovering from her journey from South Carolina I would like to repot her either on cork or repot in an orchid basket. I'm not sure which is best. My other orchids do well in pots ( cattleyas, phalaenopsis ) & some do well mounted ( Tolumnia, Dendrobium). Any guidance or recommendations for this particular type of orchid ?

Trichopilia culture is different from Cattleya, Phalaenopsis and Tolumnia. Coming from cloud forests constant humidity is important.
You tell us nothing about your growing conditions.
I would not mount Trichopilia tortilis on cork. For me smaller clay or plastic pots with a medium to fine grade mix of bark, perlite, clay pellets and pumice works well.
Light is important, but avoid the heat, and give moving air to protect the leaves from fungus spots.

thanks for speedy response. I have windows facing south & west & northeast. I usually grow in bark but will take up yr suggestion of using a mixture. My balcony faces east. If you have any suggestions about light ( should I place her in shade til I see what effect the balcony light has on her ?
