I recently posted a thread about blue round on my Dendrobium Spring Dream 'Kumiko'. It wasn't kept overly wet I am using the bamboo skewer method. The mold didn't affect the blooms, roots or plant. I could remove the orchid from the pot and rinse the roots off and a few days later I would recheck the mold would be there again.
As another member suggested to repot after blooming I figured it was already dropping blooms and making new canes with active roots and this time to repot.
The root mass is huge and all roots are in good condition.
It was in promix and wasn't over moist just enough for me to water today.
I have styrofoam , clay pellets and lava rock.
I don't want to screw this up so please help. Humidity is about 40% and I use the bamboo method for watering.
Is there anything I can purchase at pets mart as I don't have time to order on line.
Can you get orchid bark or mix at home depot or lowe's?; hardware store ? Commercial nursery? Chc at a hydroponics supply store?
You can certainly pot it in what you have, but may need frequent watering.
Wow~ massive root balls!
This is why I hate repotting oncidiums and dendrobiums. lol
Anyways, if you have clay pellets and lave rock, you can go ahead and use them either as a mix or just one variety. You might have to water a lot more often then when it was in promix though.
Or, you can mail order mix of your choice and in the meantime you can just sit the plant as is but mist it every morning. It will be fine.
Update::::
When I look at the roots they aren't as white and firm as before.
I repot it in bark, perlite and charcoal mix.
I water when it becomes dry.
The new Growths are getting bigger(3) and another one is forming.
THe canes aren't shriveled.
Is their anything I should change?
