Hey guys!

I have had lots of good luck repotting orchids in bloom. I almost never lose blooms when I do it or upset the plant.

However two orchids I just picked up at a show are POT BOUND AS HELL and so tough I can't even force a bamboo skewer into the middle of the media. It's packed in tighter than the mouth of a little kid who doesn't want to eat his broccoli.

Not to mention, the media is smelling musty now that I've wet it. It just smells damp and stale.

So, should I repot this gal while in bloom? Or is it safe to wait for all the flowers to finish (maybe 1-2 months)?

What do you think?

I have a den antennatum in the same situation, but it is just barely starting spikes so I am not too worried about repotting it (though I feel like the spikes may stall for a while while it re-adjusts).

Pictures for your viewing pleasure are included. This is the single most photogenic orchid I have ever seen!!

Do not be scared repotting plants the moment you received it =even while in bloom=its the right time to check the health condition and if there are bugs hiding....just be careful not to break or disturb them much since your kind of plants have fine roots.
