I have been making and selling orchid pots for several years so the issue of possible glaze toxicity is important to me. The glazes that I use are food safe for humans but I never considered that orchids might be more sensitive. Is there a definitive source of information about this issue?

If it is an issue, I could use a clear (pigment free) glaze on the interior of my pots.

my experiance is that unglazed majolica or terracota are the best for orchids.
I have more than 200 orchids in ceramic pots made by myself.
I have experimented with different clays and differnet glazes and techniques from classic to raku.
almost all orchids potted in glazed pots had some problems or did not grow well as others.
also almost all orchids in not glazed pots had some problems if clay was not natural. for example clay for raku.

of course there are some exceptions but now I am not using any other clay then majolica or natural terracota and I am not glazing them.
