Though my phal. is still in fading bloom, I have to do something with this--- I can only imagine the rot on the inside! I have a cylindrical brick of roots. They are lovely roots and I am afraid in order to get to the moss on the inside I am going to have to hurt some. Tips, please!

Really soak the root ball and then start slowly pulling the sphag out with tweezers. It will take a while but sit down, get comfortable and start.

The old roots are inside that ball and I would expect you will find some or all dead roots. Don't worry about cutting them off, if hollow they will pull off and leave the strings. The newest roots are the ones on the outside and those are the ones you want to save.

Thumbs up AFTER!

Thanks Brooke! I have soaked, untangled and de-sphagged. Going to pot it up in the morning.

Lovely flower. I have a mini with similar blooms. Love the color. It's so cheerful.
