New growth almost developed, media isn't optimal - Should I repot or wait?

Back in June I bought an oncidium with one mother bulb, one smaller bulb and three new shoots (2 of which were large). The new growth is beginning to mature now and has sent out new roots etc.. expecting the pseudobulb to develop shortly.

Since June, I thought about repotting it, but I wasn't sure if that would affect the new growth. 5 months later, I may or may not be regretting the decision..

Essentially, I may be regretting not having repot it because it's potted in moss, and it's slightly pack in the plastic container. However, I'm afraid that if I did repot it now, it might affect the chances of these new shoots from flowering, especially since the pseudobulbs will be developed very soon.

I'm honestly not too sure about the conditions of the roots.. Because there is only one large pseudobulb, I can't imagine the pot being very root bound. And regarding rotting, I've been very careful not to over-water the plant to mitigate potential rotting of the roots, especially since the moss is slightly packed in there.

From the looks of it, the plant is very healthy and continues to grow.

My question is, do you think I should repot the plant immediately? Or should I wait until the new pseudobulbs develop and flower?

Ideally you should repot when new growths are just breaking, so new roots go into fresh mix.

In my opinion, even if it jeopardizes next blooms, it is better to repot before you loose roots, than after. If you use a granular mix, you should be OK repotting now.

In my conditions, bark will not work so when I buy new orchids, I always immediately re-pot, no matter what stage of growth. The exception is certain Cattleyas that have a definite rest period and, in those cases, I just carefully remove all of the medium and let them sit in the pot until a new growth begins.

Thanks for the tips! Today I lifted the orchid out of the pot to see the roots... lots of healthy roots, i'm hoping the roots in the middle are just a healthy.

I think I'm going to leave it in the pot until it blooms.. if I do see the plant becoming distressed i'll repot immediately.

I would repot now. Its not in bloom and is growing so why wait. I repot my new orchids after 2-3 weeks of having them in bloom or not. I am waiting till my Paph bloom falls to repot that one.

I have not had any bud bust due to repotting when in bloom. As long as the plant is adjusted and healthy.

If you repot now you might have better blooms next time because the plant will be happier. I think repotting is key to good healthy plants.

I also agree with repotting now. Especially if it is in moss. You should clean the damp moss out of the center of the roots before they rot off. Also, If the PS is just starting to form, flowering is a ways off yet, so repotting now should not set it back. IMO
