Two of my knew catasetum/cycnode/clowesia orchids came in a bark mix media instead of sphagnum moss like my others. I emailed one of the sellers and she said she makes her own up. But she had many people who use black gold orchid potting/bark mix. I have never heard of this...I found it online and they have good reviews but all I am finding is fine bark mix...would that be okay for my catasetums? Because if they are happy in bark I want to keep them in bark..
I have used this brand medium fir bark for Cyms. I got it at a local hardware chain, so you may check if you can get it locally - as well as having maybe more options? I think the store I got it from has both medium and fine bark, as well as a mix.
Well where I live all I can find is miracle gro..so I have to order everything. I think there is a possibility a store may carry it that is close to my university I will stop in and see if they have any. Would I need medium size I guess I would think fine would be to thin and more for my oncidiums.

If you ever get the Black Gold Orchid Mix product, you will be impressed, especially compared to MiracleGro..

I have not messed with miracle gro orchid mix since my 1st now dead phals! I have bought in the past better gro (phal/den/special bark mixes) but compared to what I saw in the media today and the healthy roots they had makes me think I need something better then what I can get in the city. Even paying 3 or 4 dollars extra for a bag is better then 14.00 for shipping alone which is what I saw on several sellers online. So I will hope I can find it.
