I like the Better Gro orchid mix in Lowes. But most of the time I have to just get what I can find at Home Depot or Orchard Supply Hardware. Last year, I saw hygrolon online, used mostly for terrariums, but I made baggies out of it, thinking if it holds water and still allows air to go through the roots, Phals will like it, so I put clay rocks or just styro peanuts in the baggies to get some form, then I sandwiched the roots of one of my Phals, to help support the Phal a bit upright. This way it is not suffocating the roots like sphagnum moss does. It liked it too! Made me understand better just how much air circulation the Phal roots like! Best part, no worries now of media decomposing

Hygrolon is neat, and out of stock everywhere. I'd love to track some down for the terrarium I want to build, but I can't find the stuff.

Yeah, they have the small sheets only. Not the large ones.

I think I'll (for now) stick to the regular potting medium...

i'm still not sure if I should put it back into the same pot tho...

You more than likely should be able to. Post a pic of the pot.

Ok, if I can figure out how I'm going to get some pics of the pots the phals are in.

They have a clear plastic pot inside a decorative ceramic pot. Should I get rid of the decroative pot? If I do that should I get a tray with some rocks to set the clear plastic pots on? From what I can tell they don't have much in the way of air holes, the plastic ones I mean. Of course the decrotive one have none at all!

I *might* be going to the big city this weekend, nothing is planned yet, but if we do then I can get whatever I need. Since I drive we'll go to lowes even if hubby isn't needing to go there, lol.
