Should i repot my 2 new orchids?
Default Should i repot my 2 new orchids?

HI all, I recently attended a local orchid show, and i bought a very nice brassia and a milt. The brassia has 2 flower scrapes, and the milt. i think has one coming up. My question is, should i repot them, or wait until next winter?

Sorrey i was having trouble uploading from flikcer, so i posted my photostream here. The brassia is the bigger one, the milt. is the smaller one.

They both look newly re-potted to me so I would be tempted to leave them. The one in the chunky bark may need watering more often as Oncidium types do not like to dry out too much. The media in both pots looks pretty new from your pictures.

the main thing with new plants this time of year, is they may come carrying visitors....inspect them carefully....I would give them a shot of good systemic on principle anyway...good luck!

If you decide you need to repot, the best time of year for almost all orchids is when new growth is starting to emerge.
