New Pots
I need to order some new 3,4,5" pots. I have been using clear pots with holes in the bottom. I see there are pots with slits in the side and holes in the bottom, also black, green, etc. I also see square and round.
What is the consensus on round vrs square? Slits on the side vrs no slits, Net pots vrs slits, colored vrs clear.
I would assume clear with no slits so one can see the roots, but with slits does it matter or is light also important for the roots.

I don't think it matters just if you want more air flow with the slits. I kind of like the looks of the square pots but when I ordered I got the round ones with the slits.

Any problems with roots growing out? I know they sell pots with slits all the way to the top but there made of gold I think.

Some of my orchid pots have slightly wider slits than others, and yes - roots grow thru the wider ones. - actually fine rooted orchids grow roots thru the narrow slits ...
It isn't necessary to use "orchid pots" ( type with slits ).
Net pots are VERY light, and media will dry faster - and yes, roots will grow thru them as well.

I got mine from Kelly's Korner 3" .50 - 4" 1.00 - 5" 1.25 you can by how ever many you want of each one. They seem to be cheaper than re-pot me. Those are the only ones I checked. They are good and sturdy I think.

You might also consider air-cone pots.

Those must be the ones I liked the look of. Someone on here posted a picture of an orchid in these pots. Yes I always look at the pots there in also.

What kind of orchids are going into these pots? My take is that in some cases, it makes a difference.

I have Oncidium, Cattleya, and Phalaenopsis growing in square air-cone pots. I'm using bark chip mix. Not intentional but I just realized none of these plants are potted in sphagnum moss. This shouldn't matter. These square pots are more stable than round pots--they don't tip over as easily and you can place these square pots closer to each other to save space.
