dead sphagnum uses?

Okay had so much sphagnum some died, I was wondering about using it for my seedlings? It says to use moss so I was wondering if it would work? Seedlings I mean my de flasked chids that are coming in.

Thank you @WhiteRabbit, it is already dead...so why would it not work as well as orchid moss that better gro sells....

Let it dry out really well and then rub it between the palms of your hands and it crumbles and makes good mulch for compotes. I would even go so far as to put it the oven at say 200*f and help kill off any bad guys.
