A small net pot vice versa, inside of the pot.

I like to use small over turned net pots (other pots with extra holes poked in also suffice, but not as well - or spare small orchid pots). Or, styro tucked into the center of the root mass.

To take up space in the bottom of pots, I use styro, marbles (fish tank/flower arrangement type), decorative rock, pieces of broken clay pots. I have found the marbles and decorative rocks at the dollar store

You can also throw small pieces of styro, chunks of lava rock, leca, into your potting mix.

I was thinking about marbles or lava rock because they are both fairly inexpensive. Pots arent readily availiable here so shipping is killer

In my cacti pots (who also suffer if over potted) I fill the bottom with quarter sized decorative rocks that you can find at any craft store. I would avoid lava rock because it absorbs water and you want rocks that will not absorb any water, you want it to just let the water drain away.
