New Schomburgkia Cow horn
I have a new schomburgkia, the other one that I have came in moss and therefore I have kept it in moss.
the new schom. I got is a bag baby that I ordered online from orchid fanatic. It is now 3 pieces and will most likely become 1 more at minimum.
My biggest question is should I put it in moss like I would like to or a coarse bark mix like better gro, special mix?

I strongly suggest to mount it, they really do great mounted, they do grow on the trees normally and the roots are all over the wood. Try it if you can! Mine big one is mounted and grows like crazy!

I will most likely do that next year once it has some decent enough roots to do that. I really don't have anything to mount it on right now...I am NOT retrying the clay pot method lol!!!

How big should the pieces of wood be to mount them on. I have some crepe myrtle limbs I have cut down that are dried out now that are about the size of a quarter around. would that be okay for starters until I can get some larger blocks of wood for them to grow on?
O and I am not to comfortable with the mounting method just yet...lol...hanging i can do though! I have square hanging baskets coming in from Home Depot I would like to put them in as well. lol.

I am attaching picture of mine mounted on the cork slab. BTW, mounting is really not that complicated, as far as you can get that green thin mounting wire from HD, you just attach it in the wood and that's it.

And look at my big one, this plant is some 15 years old though, the roots are reaching now to the top of the wood and they are all around on the bottom part of the wood. It seems it likes round slab, so it can grow all around it 360 degrees:-)

Well they have to be potted until I get some planks/blocks for them to be mounted on. And I want them to adjust to the climate before I shock them any more
