terracotta pots
Okay on another thread it was asked about drilling holes in glazed pots. Well mine ruptured....
My question is could you drill the holes and then dunk the pots in a outdoor paint to break up the colors just a bit? Or would that harm the plants...

As stated in many older threads, immerse the pot underwater when drilling, the water functions as a lubricant and coolant. Go slow, let the bit do the work.
Don't know about the paint, I wouldn't.

Oh I drill holes in all of mine. Its cheaper and more cost effective. I was honestly just wondering about it to mak e some colors pop
|

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the clay pot? I don't think it can wick water through the clay if it's painted. I know...sometimes they get boring....  |

Well my personal thought was when I go on vaca or something i could color code so my family would know what to do.

unfortunetly my family would do something to that, we sometimes get invaded by small children under 5 thats why I wanted concrete colors Haha |

You could also drill a hole or two in the rim, and wire on your different colored tags... I've done that to plastic pots, that for some reason or another didn't ever hold onto its tags, and when I needed my colored tags to be obvious, I just wired them onto the outside of the pot, instead of the inside....
