It would probably be years before I have to worry about them not having enough room, but by then they'll be stuck to the mount and it'll be almost impossible to move them...

I decided to take off the three smallest ones, we'll see what happens.

At that point, just cut the mount apart and remount by tying the old piece to the new. You'd never get them disengaged, so why try? after a while, you won't be able to see the layered mount material anyway.

And, wouldn't that be a wonderful problem to have ?
