There were some I used to use which were glass and had a bulge in the bottom to hold the plastic pot out of any drips.

Unfortunately the maker changed the design and instead of having plenty of space around the sides of the inner pot they became much narrower at the bottom and I had just the same issue of not enough air flow.

The current design is better than the middle design but not as good as the old shape. Here is a link to what they look like now. I do use some of this shape, but much prefer the older shape when they quickly widened out at the bottom. Luckily I have quite a few of the old shape and can usually find one when I need it.

Found this link to the older shape I preferred. A standard 12cm pot fit well in this with air flow arround.

Finally found a link to the one that caused a problem with not enough air flow. I thought it was the same make but looks to have a different name from this link. I bought mine all from the same shop. Anyway, these were too tight in the base.

It might look only subtle differences in shape, but having tried all three the older ones are best.

I am too new to be able to put any pics on here yet and I don't know if I am allowed to put my website on, so I won't. Don't want to get thrown out on my first day.

Please message me for the details and all your worries will be solved in a magical way.

Generally we say that people who are here to take part, help others, discuss orchids with others and generally be a member of the forum, are welcome to post links to their own business as long as they make clear that they have a vested interest in the business they are linking too. We don't like people to just come here and post links to promote their business if it seems that is the only reason they are posting here.

We used to have a general guideline of about 50 posts before doing this and at moderators discretion, but sometimes the 50 posts has not mattered. Only recently another user specifically asked me if it was OK when in context with the post and the moderators agreed that yes it was.

It's obviously a bit difficult to tell your purpose as you've only made a couple of posts... but I would like to see this link as well, as I'm a UK resident always on the look out for good pots... so go for it

So sorry to have upset you. I didn't even leave the message for you, it was for 'The Orchid Kid'.

Didn't want to cause a fuss or anything.

I have spent hours in here today reading. I haven't spammed anyone, indeed I have learned a lot.

Now that I can put pictures on I wanted to ask advice about some strange growths on my Orchids, but I've had some questions answered already.

I am also trying to download the OrchidWiz and it is taking forever! Is this normal? I must have started the download around 10 am, that's about 2 1/4 hours ago and it's only done 1.6 of 5.4 and says another 8 hours? Woa!! That's a big thing I think.

Trying to learn all I can from the Forum.

Thanks for the help.

You haven't upset me at all. I'm actually interested to see what the pots are as well

I was just explaining our usual policy (because you had commented that you didn't want to break any rules) and finishing by saying that I would like you to post your link in this case.

So please accept my apologies if my post didn't come off that way. From what I've read from you today I really don't think you are trying to be a spammer.

And don't worry if you are asking lots of questions... ask as many as you want we don't mind

I don't know about Orchidwiz I'm afraid, I've not used it. But I think it is a substantial piece of software, so could be quite large.

Just cancelled the OrchidWiz thingy. I think it was stuck as it hadn't moved from 1.6 and was now showing 9 hours remaining! I'll be asleep by then!

You can see my Pots at Orchid Pots and I am the Official Distributor for the UK so you can't get these anywhere else. They are sooo new and Magical.

Thank you for allowing me to share this with you Miss RosieC.

Wow, those look really cool. So does water just drain out the bottom or does it drain into a lower layer?

Really tempted to order one to give it a try.

Default Roots Heading for Freedom

I saw these demonstrated live at the Malvern Show where I was selling them this June. The Owner of the company came over from Germany. He simply re-potted my Orchids (3 of them) with the Clay chips mixed with the bark. Then he simply added a complete saucer full of water.

Over the course of the day about 2/3 of the water was drawn up into the pot and the following morning I was astounded to see that the roots which were looking papery and light were now green and plump and moist. I was so impressed. The whole of the plant was totally rehydrated from one watering and then left to dry out before repeating.

I have one now where the roots are just starting to make their bid for freedom and I am sooo excited.

For those in the U.S., I believe that there was some discussion of these pots in another thread, I think the reference was to repotme.com

Yes it probably was Carrie.

I first saw them at repotme.com and I wrote to them immediately to ask if I might be allowed to sell them in the UK. They were fabulous.

They forwarded my letter on to Germany where they were invented and are made.

After some talks I have been appointed as the Official UK Distributor for the Orchitop Pots.

They are not sold in Garden Centres or Chain stores in the UK at all.

Well spotted Carrie.
