I use mine for putting in the top of planters in the summer as I live in an apartment right now - otherwise it would be top dressing around whatever lucky plant got it! Unless the plant in it died of disease, then I throw it in the yard or alleyway -

Reading all your replies make me a bit sad. The garbage company in my city doesn't accept soil in the compost bin, unfortunately. It really doesn't make sense. I usually just dump it in the trash Any suggestions of what else I can do with it? I don't want to put it in my front/back yard either because I have plans to renovate everything in the future.

Bark to me is not considered soil since it does break down and decompost.
Can you home compost? A compost bin does not take up that much space, even if you want to landscape later you could have one in a corner, then use the compost after landscaping when you need it.
I use both a collected compost bin and a home one, but most stuff goes in the home one.
